Please welcome Dr. Bartlett to our hospital!
Dr. Bartlett and Oliver
Dr. Bartlett is very pleased to be joining the practice at Arcata Animal Hospital.
She grew up in the San Fernando Valley in southern California in a home filled with animals including many dogs and cats, as well as horses, rabbits, a guinea pig, a chinchilla, and a variety of birds. This inspired a love of animals at an early age and an understanding of how important they are to our lives, fostering the goal of one day becoming a veterinarian.
Dr. Bartlett completed her undergraduate degree from California State University, Chico with a major in biology. During her time in school she worked at a small animal practice in the Chico area and fell in love with veterinary medicine and the ability to improve the lives of both animals and the people who love them.
Luna
She completed her veterinary degree at UC Davis in 2011, with an emphasis in companion animals. Her areas of interests include small animal internal medicine, dermatology, ophthalmology, and soft tissue surgery.
She currently shares her home with a lovable though slightly neurotic spaniel mix named Oliver, and two cats Kate and Luna. Kate is a very special older lady who had a lot to teach about feline medicine during Lisa’s time in veterinary school. Luna was fostered and then adopted during vet school after being born at the Mercer Veterinary Clinic for the homeless (a free clinic organized by UC Davis veterinary students for the homeless population of Sacramento). Lisa also has a 30 year old Arabian mare who she has been riding since childhood and who also recently made the journey up to Humboldt.
Outside the hospital she enjoys a variety of activities including baking yummy treats, yoga, horseback riding, and outdoor adventures especially if they involve the beach or a forest. She is very excited to begin exploring beautiful Humboldt County and welcomes any recommendations for new places to see.
