Dr Lea-Shouse first worked at Arcata Animal Hospital as a volunteer and then as a kennel technician while attending Humboldt State University (Zoology 1993). Before entering the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine she spent a year working as a veterinary assistant in Santa Cruz, CA.

Norby
She returned to Arcata Animal Hospital as a veterinarian after graduating from UC Davis in 1998.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Lea-Shouse enjoys gardening, reading, and walking on the beach with Brian, her husband, and her two dogs, Koa and Maui. At home she spends time with her two cats, Fern and Norby.
Her passion for animals stems from the fact that they cannot help themselves and she uses every opportunity she has at the hospital to do just that.
